She arrived on a Thursday morning, while the city was still asleep and the cold lingered outside. The dog knew before we did. In an instant, we grew older — or rather, we became parents. We thought we would have to get to know her, but in truth, we recognised her right away. She fits perfectly in our arms and somehow fills the entire room. She is teaching us how to forget time, and how everything can be done with just one hand. We move more slowly now — except when it comes to smiling.

For months, we wandered flea markets every Sunday morning before dawn, gathering the most beautiful and gentlest things secondhand. It wasn’t just fun, sometimes it was a necessity, a way to stay ahead of the heat.

Step by step, with great care, love, and patience, we collected almost everything we thought we might need. Soft, tender pieces, made as much as possible from natural materials. Not only kinder to our budget, but also to the world she will grow up in. Our nest isn’t very large, so we chose carefully what was given a place.

We already have the most beautiful thing at home.
